Old World Chic At The Colony Hotel

Earlier this year we were fortunate enough to shoot our SS18 collection at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. It’s one of Palm Beach’s little-known secrets, all the attention usually going to other big Palm Beach names. We love how storied and colorful the property is, it was the perfect backdrop for a Pitusa shoot. The British Colonial architecture of the building mixes with laid-back cool; the interior design has loads of personality and no lack of color. So when it came to choosing a location for our Spring/Summer collection we had to post up at The Colony. It took a lot of convincing to keep us from moving in indefinitely, Eloise style.

The hotel was built in 1947, and has a storied past: it’s been host to U.S. presidents, European royalty, winter season snowbirds, and jet-setters from the world over. Our Tassel Slit Dress in Mint and the Pima Mykonos Dress were shot against the salmon pink exterior of the hotel and blended in so beautifully; we almost felt like we were stepping out of a glamorous 1930s movie set. The hotel boasts a total of 91 rooms, suites, villas and penthouses all decorated in signature green and salmon pink. There entered into a $15 million in 2011 and designer Carleton Varney made it a point to use bold colors and exquisite print. It’s a daring choice considering the minimalist style that’s so popular in the hotel scene these days– but it works perfectly for Palm Beach and avoids feeling kitschy. If anything, you’ll want to be transported to this old-world glamour for an extended stay.

With activities ranging from tennis to golf and one-on-one personal training – The Colony has something for everyone. There is an extensive spa and salon services menu – when you need to unwind with a massage or prep for a night out on the town. There are four cafes and restaurants – including our favorite, the Bimini Bar. Its pretty pastel pink shutters and high chairs are the perfect places to chill in the sun and sip on hand-crafted cocktails, munching on one of the hot dogs the hotel is famous for. Whether you stop in for an afternoon drink or meal or decide to stay for a week or longer, you won’t be disappointed by your time in these fabulous digs.
